Goodluck Jonathan attacked by gunmen

Gombe State Police Command has announced the arrest of 15 suspects in connection with the attack on President Goodluck Jonathan’s convoy in Gombe, last Thursday, during the PDP presidential rally.

The Police Public Relations officer of the Gombe State Police Command, ASP Ahmed Doma, disclosed this on Friday in a telephone interview with Saturday Tribune.

Stones were allegedly thrown at the president’s convoy during his presidential campaign to the state, just as Ahmed Doma disclosed that a group of unruly youths also set bonfires in Bolari and Jekadari areas of the state capital during his presidential campaign rally in the state.

The police spokesman also said that 13 of the suspects had been charged to court while two of the suspects, who are minors, were sent to remand homes and advised members of the public to be law-abiding at all time.

Rampaging youths had, a day before, attacked the Goodluck/Sambo Campaign Office in the state located along Bauchi road on the day the Congress for Progressive Youths (CPC) presidential candidate visited the state.
